Fournales History

This modern and high-performance technology is successfully applied in fields as diverse as transport, industry, leisure sports, competition vehicles and aeronautics.

Company founder Jean-Pierre Fournales, a mechanical engineer and international motocross racer, initially worked as a design engineer in the French aerospace industry. Appointed technical advisor to Bultaco, the leading European manufacturer of off-road motorcycles, in the mid-1970s he designed the first oleopneumatic shock absorbing suspension which was fitted to the winning and 2nd placed bikes in the 1978 world trials championship.

In September 1978 Jean created the company FOURNALES FRANCE, he left the aerospace industry to devote himself exclusively to the manufacture of his high performance and high quality oleopneumatic shock absorbers making him a true specialist in his field.

Later in 1991, J P Fournales set up the company Delta Production to develop the innovative product the “Pan Cruise” for Harley Softails; a shock absorber with two separate air compartments each with its own valve adding ride height adjustment to the usual spring adjustment. This product has stood the test of time and is still on the market today.

Based in Toulouse, Fournales France and Delta Production amalgamated in 1996 to become Fournales Suspension SA a company manufacturing suspension based on the original oleopmeumatic technology invented by J P Fournales. A company which now produces suspension for a wide range of applications for – motorcycles, sidecars, quad bikes, cars, camper vans, trucks, industry, aeronautics, measurement systems, cable cars - anything which needs a suspension system.
